Lena Ph:s first Roxette gig - Roxette starts tour in Cape Town South Africa - Pictures!
There was no support act. Per & Co. – Lena Philipsson, Dea Norberg, Clarence Öfwerman, Jonas Isacsson (how amazing to have him back in the band!), Christoffer Lundquist, Magnus Börjeson, Magnus “Norpan” Eriksson – entered the stage during an intro and the gig started a couple of minutes after 20:00 local time.
From the snippets I could see online, it was a magical night and an amazing first show. Per was incredibly happy to be on stage again and very enthusiastic, Lena was a rock goddess (and gosh, her voice is very similar to Marie’s voice!) and the band was on fire! It was a seated show, but they made the audience stand up. And sing along, of course!
I have to mention that Norpan, the drummer, posted before the gig and dedicated the show to Pelle Alsing. So lovely!
Before It Must Have Been Love, Lena thanked for the support of the crowd and paid tribute to Marie: “It’s one of my favourite Roxette songs and I would like to sing this one for Marie…”. Marie is never forgotten and she lives on in our hearts and in all these wonderful songs.
Regarding the setlist, 21 songs were played and YES! YES! YES! Vulnerable is included! It was all worth the wait! Thank you, Per, in the name of thousands of Roxers! Fingers crossed you keep it in the set during the whole tour, because all fans deserve to hear it live!

Expressen: Roxettes comeback – med Lena Philipsson
På onsdagskvällen gjorde Roxette comeback – denna gång med Lena Philipsson vid Per Gessles sida.
Och Roxette återuppstod på samma plats som de avslutade: Grand arena i Kapstaden.
– God kväll, sa Per Gessle från scenen vilket skapade ett stort jubel bland publiken innan han fortsatte.
– Det är fantastiskt att vara här och se så många människor. Tack för att vi fick komma, sa han innan han presenterade Lena Philipsson som ny medlem i bandet.
– Jag är så glad att vara här och äntligen få träffa alla er, sa Philipsson från scenen innan duon drog i gång första låten ”The big L”.
Per Gessles fina ord om Marie
Senare under konserten hedrade Philipsson den tidigare Roxette-sångerskan.
– Den här vill jag sjunga för Marie..., sa hon.
Därefter börjar hon sjunga superhiten ”It must have been love”.
Roxettes manager Marie Dimberg säger att båda artisterna har sett fram emot comebacken.
– Lena och Per är jättepeppade och tycker att det är fantastiskt kul att det är utsålt både här i Kapstaden och sen i Pretoria, säger gruppens manager Marie Dimberg.
Du har ju varit med från första början, hur känns det med denna omstart?
– Hade Marie Fredriksson levt och orkat hade vi turnerat, men nu finns inte hon längre och det är otroligt sorgligt. Men med den låtkatalog Roxette har, som Per har skrivit, och med alla fans runtom i världen så är det fantastiskt att låtarna får leva vidare. Och Lena levererar alldeles enormt strålande, som den stjärna hon är, säger Dimberg.
